Civil lab equipment refers to the tools, instruments, and machines used in civil engineering laboratories to test, analyze, and study materials used in construction — such as cement, concrete, soil, bitumen, aggregates, and water.
These instruments help engineers, students, and researchers check the quality, strength, durability, and behavior of materials before using them in real construction projects.

The Le Chatelier Mould is a special split brass mould used to determine the soundness of cement by the Le Chatelier test method. Soundness refers to the ability of cement to resist excessive expansion after setting, which is mainly caused by the presence of free lime or magnesia. Excessive expansion can lead to cracks and disintegration of concrete or mortar.
The mould is in the form of a cylindrical split ring with two indicator arms attached. When the cement paste is placed inside and allowed to set, any expansion pushes the arms apart. The increase in the distance between the tips of the arms indicates the unsoundness of cement.
